Nearly three weeks after releasing the second beta of iOS 8, Apple has this morning seeded the third beta of iOS 8 to developers. The beta is labeled as build 12a4318c, and is available for compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.
If you’re a registered iOS developer, you can grab the new beta from either the online dev portal as a standalone download, or via your device’s OTA (over-the-air) update mechanism. You’ll find all the details on beta 3 after the break…
iOS 8 beta 3, which is available for download from Apple's developer portal or as a 388-megabyte over-the-air update, sports build number 12A4318c. The company says it brings "bug fixes and improvements," and it carries Apple's now-customary warning that the beta software should only be installed on dedicated development devices.
According to Apple, the new beta fixes a number of bugs — and introduces some known issues — with authentication, AVCapture, backup, battery life, Bluetooth, Apple's Bug Reporter, CarPlay, CloudKit, document providers, extensions, FaceTime, Family Sharing, HealthKit, HomeKit, and third-party keyboards, among others.

The previous beta brought about a number of UI tweaks and changes in apps like iBooks, Camera, App Store and Messages. It also added some new options for Notifications, Privacy, and Settings, as well as a new iCloud Photos splash page.

In the Photos app, Shared Photo Streams have been renamed Shared Albums. Events and albums from Aperture are now available again in the Photos app as well, and there's a new indicator for the amount of time left before Recently Deleted photos are permanently removed.
WiFi Calling
T-Mobile users with iOS 8 beta 3 can now access WiFi calling. WiFi calling lets users make phone calls over WiFi instead of using a Cellular connection. WiFi calling can be enabled in the Phone section of the Settings app and requires users to enter an emergency address.
Custom Keyboards
Developers are now able to move the cursor location with a custom keyboard in iOS 8 beta 3.
Messages
In the Settings menu for Messages, there's a new option to automatically keep audio and video messages. Normally, these messages are deleted after a short period of time to save space.
QuickType Keyboard
There's a new option in the Keyboards section of the General menu in the Settings app that lets users toggle QuickType on and off.
Additional features in iOS 8 beta 3 will be added here as they are discovered. Apple is likely to continue pushing regular updates to iOS 8 at two or three-week intervals to bring minor performance boosts and changes ahead of the operating system's launch. iOS 8 is expected to be released to the public in the fall.
