Top Cydia JailBreaks Tweaks (Mid Year Edition 2014)

1. Apex 2

Apex 2 is the sequel to the original jailbreak tweak, which allowed users to group app icons in folder-like structures. The update, which is compatible with iOS 7, was just released today.
Like its predecessor, Apex 2 allows users to group up to four additional sub-apps to a primary app icon. Each sub-app can be revealed by performing a swipe up, swipe down, or double-tap gesture on the primary icon.

Apex 2 is available on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. It’s $2.39.

2. CONVERGENCE

It aims at simplifying the lockscreen experience and adding new features that are not available by default. Convergance completely replaces the default lockscreen and makes it more useful. First introduced to us back in January Convergance is a standalone tweak, which means it does not rely on other tweaks such as WinterBoard. It currently supports iPhone and iPod touch only, no iPad support for now.
Convergance adds a modernize look to iPhone’s lockscreen and packs features such as widgets, shortcuts, redesigned notifications and shortcuts to system settings that help in making user’s life more convenient.
The widgets found in the Convergance tweak focus on providing information to users right on the lockscreen so they don’t have to unlock their device unnecessarily. It gives access to bits of information through dedicated widgets for Calendar, Weather and RSS. While all of these widgets are included in the tweak by default more widgets will be released in Cydia as add-ons to boost the tweak’s functionality.
Convergence is available on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. It’s $2.99.

3. POWERBANNERS

PowerBanner will stop low battery alerts on the iPhone. But it doesn’t stop them altogether. You get the low battery alert as banner notification. This has one big advantage: you get to be alerted about low battery but it’s not obstructive. The design of low battery alerts as obstructive alert notifications has one purpose: when your iPhone is running out of battery power, the iPhone wants to make sure you know of it. And that you plug it in for charging. But it’s kind of annoying because if you’re watching a video, playing a game or typing something, everything is stopped and disabled till you dismiss the alert. Unless you dismiss the alert, you can’t continue using the iPhone. If you’re right in the middle of a game, it just kind of sucks to get the alert.PowerBanner changes that.
PowerBanner comes with a few customization options of its own. Toggles let you turn ON/OFF an accompanying vibrate alert when the battery is low. I think this is smarter as a haptic feedback adds more importance to the banner notification for low battery. When you respring, iOS 7 by default shows a low battery alert when the battery is below 20% and 10%. You can turn this off from within PowerBanner.
PowerBanner is available on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. It’s free.
4.ECLIPSE
Eclipse works on most of the native iOS apps and even some third party apps. It darkens the UIViews to various shades of gray for easier night viewing. For third party apps that already feature a night mode, Eclipse does not affect those apps.Eclipse can be configured via the Settings app. Options include the ability to enable or disable the tweak, darken wallpapers, and change the color of some OS text and highlighting from blue to orange.

The tweak costs just $0.99 and should be available soon via the Cydia Store. It works on iOS 7 and ARM64 devices including the iPhone 5s.
Eclipse is available on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. It’s $0.99.

5.Cylinder: the Barrel-inspired jailbreak tweak
The awesome thing about Cylinder is that it allows users to create their own animations via special Lua scripts, and combine multiple animations by layering them on top of one another. Cylinder is a tweak that’s much deeper than it might seem on the surface.
The effects section allows you to choose from a plethora of effects from various developers. Cylinder is an impressive feat, and this latest update builds on the solid cornerstone initially laid. It’s definitely one of the top jailbreak tweaks of 2014, and it’s a steal at its current price, which just happens to be $0.
