Plot
On a train journey in Warsaw, psychiatrist Shaina meets Himanshu, who is a police officer from India to discuss their prospective marriage. Both are reluctant to enter into an arranged union but become friends and strike a deep conversation where Shaina reveals her previous relationship with the eccentric Devi, a man who lived only for his 'Kick' aka an adrenaline rush . Despite his idiosyncrasies they embark on a whirlwind romance, until one day he breaks up with her for a new 'Kick' and walks away never to return. Himanshu in turn regales her with his glorious escapades as an officer but mentions that he has finally met his match, an intelligent thief. What they are both unaware of is that their stories have one thing in common, Devi. He returns to their lives under the pretext of having lost his memory. Behind it all, is a deeper mystery and an uncompromising mission for which Devi is ready to lose his life.
Star Performances
Jacqueline Fernandez is not just a pretty face as the actress brings out in her role the desired charm. Her chemistry with Khan has an appealing quality to it that became the sole saving grace of an otherwise boring first half.
Randeep Hooda is a great actor but he boils himself down to caricaturish mannerisms. He plays Abhishek Bachchan from Dhoom sans improvisations.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui was par excellence. I don’t think any other actor of recent times has nailed the character of villain this brilliantly. There’s a reason Siddiqui’s name carries with him a certain weight. One might presume such films don’t do any justice to his caliber, but this supervillain rocked the movie even more. Nawaz isn’t just cut out for class, he can do potboilers much better than regular actors!
Direction :
Sajid Nadiadwala doesn’t make ordinary films and his debut vehicle has enough to convey that. It was a pompous affair where the story was needless but the magnitude of the film scores. Probably it is Sajid who was instrumental in getting Salman to enjoy his work so much. Though the director didn’t insist on improving the script at hand, he did his best in making an opulent film.
Verdict : 3/5
Conclusion
KICK is a typical knockout masala entertainer that has all the quintessential ingredients of a typical Salman Khan movie, high octane action, sizzling romance, rib tickling comedy and Topsy-turvy storyline. Logic be damned, you won't be disappointed while watching this
movie & this movie gives you enough reasons to get kicked whether you are a Salman fan or not.
