Review: ASUS ROG Matrix R9 290X Platinum

The all new ASUS ROG Matrix R9 290x Platinum will equip with the Hawaii XT core with 2816 Stream processors, 64 Render, 176 TMUs and 512-bit interface. It’s seems like ASUS is giving the direct answer to the MSI R9 290X lightning and Sapphire’s R9 290X Vapor X. For this, solid answer the Core base Clocked will be more than 1000MHz, and the card will equip with good Overclocking capabilities. Well, both MSI and Sapphire have their own flavor, MSI mostly focuses on Overclocking, Sapphire on VRAM, and ASUS is always focusing on PCB and Design.

ASUS ROG Matrix R9 290X delivers 6% faster game performance than reference design

1. DirectCU II with 10mm heatpipe: 20% cooler performance and 3X quieter acoustics           compared to reference.
2. CoolTech Fan technology: Hybrid design for multi-directional cooling
3. DIGI+ VRM with black metallic capacitors and 14-phase Super Alloy Power: 30%-less       power noise and 5X-greater durability
4. Memory Defroster: Instant defrost. Say goodbye to cold bugs
5. LN2 mode / STD mode Jumper Switch: Unleash maximum GPU power
6. Safe Mode: One-press VBIOS restore
7 .ROG Color-coded Load Indicator: At-a-glance GPU load level
8. GPU Tweak: Modify clock speeds, voltages, fan performance and more, all via an             intuitive interface
9. GPU Tweak Streaming: Share on-screen action in real time – so others can watch live a     as games are played.

    3DMark 11
3DMark is a computer benchmarking tool created and developed by Futuremark Corporation
to determine the performance of a computer’s 3D graphic rendering and CPU workload
processing capabilities. The latest version makes extensive use of all the new features
in DirectX 11, including tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading. We used the
     “Performance” preset for this benchmark.
    3D Mark11
    Battlefield 3
Battlefield 3 is a first-person shooter video game developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and is
based on the new Frostbite 2 game engine. The game only supports DX10 and DX11, which enables
enhanced in-game destruction withDestruction 3.0, creating more refined physics than its
predecessor and quasi-realtime radiosity using Geometrics’Enlighten technology. The game is a
visual treatand a nightmare for graphics cards, which makes it perfect for our test. We used
the “Ultra High” preset, Post AA – High, Blur – Full,Field of View – 90, Level – “Fear no Evil”.
    BF3 1080

    Bioshock Infinite
Bioshock Infinite developed by Irrational Games uses a modified version of the Unreal Engine.
It’s a first-person shooter which takes place in a fictional floating city called Columbia.
We ran the benchmark using the Adrenaline Benchmark tool and used the Ultra and Medium
settings. In the Ultra settings you have FXAA On, Ultra texture detail, 16x AF, Ultra dynamic
shadows and with the Medium settings you have FXAA On, High texture detail, 8x AF and High
    dynamic shadows.
