Gionee launched Marathon M3 with quad core & 5000 mAh battery priced at Rs 13,999

Gionee’s latest smartphone from M series is now listed on online retailer eBay for Rs. 13999 only. It is also listed on official Gionee website. This smartphone is the successor of Gionee M2. Gionee Marathon M3 is paked with 5000 mAh battery as compared to 4200 mAh battery in Gionee M2. Marathon word was added in the name just because it guarantees a great battery life.

If we talk about hardware specifications, The Gionee Marathon M3 (better than the Gionee M2) is a quad band smartphone with 3G support. It is 10.4mm thick and weight without the battery is about 180 grams. This dual SIM handset is powered by 1.3GHz quad core processor (cortex A7) MediaTek MT6582 coupled with Mali 400 MP2 GPU. Handset runs KitKat 4.4.2 with Amigo UI over a 5 inch OGS IPS screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.

There is 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and micro SD card slot that can house external cards of up to 128GB. The M3 comes with dual cameras an 8MP auto focus on the rear and 2MP on the front. Key features are 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0.

There is accelerometer, proximity, light and magnetic sensor. Now coming to the battery – it is a massive one with a 5000 mAh capacity. As per the company the talk time is about 30 hours on 3G and about 50 hours on 2G networks. Standby time is about 32 days.

Review :

Pros :
1. The 6 inch QHD screen is impressively amazing. The bezels are so thin and make the phone look super cool.
2. The build of the phone is of premium looks. The phone is incredibly thin and the metallic feel complements it's overall style.
3. The snapdragon 801 chipset married to a 3 GB RAM makes scrolling through the UI and running various apps so lag free and fluid.
4. The camera is amazing ! Take my word for it. It's amazing.
5. The Vibe UI is cool. The wallpaper switching effect is cool.
5. It has a notification LED. I love notification LEDs.
6. The sound quality is good, though the bass seems to be a little less.
7. The phone has a mammoth battery of 4000 mA. And it lasts long. Really long.
8. I love the fact we can switch to stock android UI without having to root the phone. That's a really interesting feature.
9. Almost the apps we need come bundled. There's no much bloat-ware.
10. 4K video recording is crystal clear. Fantabulous !

Cons :
1. I wish it had an expandable memory slot. Especially because of its ability to record 4K videos, the memory would be full soon.
2. I wish the second SIM slot was 3G enabled. (Too much to ask?, maybe...)
3. I wish the earphones that came bundled were of a more premium quality.
4. The rear camera juts out of the body a bit. That's of some concern as the glass can get scratches soon.
