Review : It is not Memento, it is not The Dark Knight, it is not Inception. It is Interstellar.

Plot :

In the near future Earth has been devastated by drought and famine, causing a scarcity in food and extreme changes in climate. When humanity is facing extinction, a mysterious rip in the space-time continuum is discovered, giving mankind the opportunity to widen their lifespan. A group of explorers must travel beyond our solar system in search of a planet that can sustain life. The crew of the Endurance are required to think bigger and go further than any human in history as they embark on an interstellar voyage, into the unknown. Coop, the pilot of the Endurance, must decide between seeing his children again and the future of the human race.

Cast :

  Matthew Mcconaughey :
Matthew Mcconaughey's acting is good, but nothing stellar, especially coming off the best acting role of his career. He plays the character like it should be played, but Nolan's characters never being truly drawn out or rounded does not help him any.

 Anne Hathaway :
Anne Hathaway gave a stunning emotional performance as the flawed Bland.

 Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain has a few strong moments as well.Jessica gave the best performances without a doubt. There is a scene regarding her character breaking down which will definitely make your eyes water.

The supporting cast all do justice to the movie too

Direction :

Mr. Nolan. Don't just look at Nolan, but look at his films. Some say Inception would be his masterpiece, while others would say it's The Dark Knight, or Memento. But honestly, every single film Christopher Nolan has directed is a masterpiece not of its genre, but of Nolan. Following is his quiet masterpiece, not the film that put Mr. Nolan on the map as a phenomenal director, but one people visited or revisited after becoming accustomed to Nolan, after seeing Memento, what could be called his breakout masterpiece. Then, right after, he directed the remake of the Norwegian thriller, Insomnia. This, too, could be considered a masterpiece, even if a remake. Then, we were given his take on the Batman universe, starting with Batman Begins, the origin masterpiece. Then, there's The Prestige, adapted from the novel of the same name, which can be called his dark masterpiece. The Dark Knight, his bold masterpiece; Inception, his complex masterpiece, and The Dark Knight Rises, his flawed masterpiece. Now, we have Interstellar, his emotional or personal masterpiece..
The script of the film is very well combined the history of space exploration and the relationship between Cooper and Murph. The story is complex and complicated, is based on real scientific theories by Kip Thorne, and indeed contains a reference to the "Space Odyssey" and other sci-fi pictures. This story about true love, about loyalty, forgiveness, fraud, hard decisions, and much more. And it is designed so that leaves a lot of room for the imagination of the viewer. It's also possible to notice some structure allusion to another Nolan's work - Inception. The story and visuals are combined just perfectly in Interstellar.

Music :

Interstellar is itself a crescendo, increasing sensitivity and creativity. I use the term deliberately because it goes crescendo with the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, which is one of the most beautiful music ever scored for a sci-fi movie. We are witnessing a perfect musical arrangement, a total symbiosis, a bit like the music of Gravity which had understood very well how to match the image and the rhythm of a sequence to its own musicality. Zimmer's crescendos are giving a new powerful breath to every new scene, whether it is in visually powerful & intense moments or in more intimate moments; it intrudes into our momentary feelings and sensations, and manages to extend them, sometimes almost to choking, before resting on the balance of the film frame along with our mind spell-bounded.

Verdict : 4.5 /5

Conclusion :

Overall, I think that this movie should be seen in theaters on the big screen if you have the chance. It was a true experience. Be sure to be attentive and to clear your bladder first though. It will make you think. At times it might make you check your watch, but please endure and you will be treated to one of the most intriguing films of all time. Even if you think you didn't like the film, there is no doubt that you will be thinking about the contents of the plot and beauty of the visuals long after the credits roll

Happy New Year - Visually stunning HNY is a great Entertainer

Main Hoona Na and Om Shanti Om (both the films directed by Farah Khan) are considered one of the most entertaining bollywood films. And after Farah's Tees Maar Khan's debacle, she is back with her new outing HAPPY NEW YEAR which was supposed to be made in 2005 but was later shelved! Will it be SRK's another Ra.one or will it be into the lists of the most entertaining films?

Plot :

This is the ultimate underdog story where a team of 'losers' win the love of millions in their quest to pull off the biggest diamond heist ever!
Charlie(ShahRukh Khan) is planning to rob some diamonds from Charan Grover(Jackie Shroff) for a specific reason(Watch the movie and you will get to know) with help of his 5 friends. But to rob him he has to take part in World Dance Championship! The plot looks so simple and you might be thinking such a simple plot but a very long film? Well apart from the plot the movie has many other things to offer!

Cast :

ShahRukh Khan rocks in the film! His dialogue delivery, especially during the emotional moments is fantastic!

Deepika Padukone as Mohini has done a good job as a bar dancer cum dancer teacher cum a WINNER!

Boman Irani as a middle aged Parsi chick magnet is funny

Abhishek comes out as a surprise in this movies, having had string of annoying performances after Guru.

Vivaan Shah as Rohan, has done a cool job as a hacker but needs a bit grooming though a good talent found.

Direction :

Farah Khan has directed a heist film without any blood and gore or love making scene, which is in itself an achievement, because family audiences were looking for such a film with GREAT production values for a very long time! I guess last one was...Ah! Very few! And I should say a film doesn't need a kissing scene to make it impressive for the youth because I am 18 and I watch movies with my family! I didn't need to look down for any scene in the film! I didn't hear a single word of disgust from my parent like 'Is that what you surf or watch on Internet'. I applaud Farah for that.

Music :

Music by Vishal-Shekhar will grow inside you and grows to max after watching the movie. India-Waale and Manwa-laage already topping the charts, I think Satakli will grow slowly within the people. My pick of the lot is Satakli and Manwa-Laage.

Verdict : 2.5/5

Conclusion :

Despite usual clichés, HAPPY NEW YEAR excels as a film! With great production values, heart warming moments, good Music, good story, good direction, this is a film Audience(especially families) were looking for and Here it is. Happy New year is a fun watch! Recommended!

Haider : A path breaking movie , pure cinematic experience

The movie Haider, as most of you would be aware of is an adaptation of Shakespeaes' Hamlet. It does help if you have read the original work ,but believe me there is nothing in the movie which you cannot understand if you have not read it.In fact if you have not read it till now,its better because the story would be anew to you. This is not a simple adaptation, this takes not a simplistic stance; Haider is a remarkable achievement and one of the most powerful political films we've ever made, a bonafide masterpiece that throbs with intensity and purpose.

Bang Bang - redefines the action & one of the Best Action movie of Bollywood any time

  1. Bang Bang is a part Espionage Thriller, part Bollywood Revenge Drama, part Musical, part Romantic Comedy, and full Global Action Adventure that not just excels in its parts, but is also riveting as a whole. An official remake of 'Knight and Day' - this is a movie that will surely seem like a knight in shining armor for the adrenaline junkie awaiting a prince charming.

Khoobsurat : Overall a good attempt to remake such a classic movie.

Atlast a sigh of relief for the bollywood fans.the year 2014 was so far going pathetic for the Indian movies fans but this long wait has been broken and the one to do so is The Movie Khoobsurat.Awesome acting by Soonam Kapoor And The debut-ant Fawad Khan.Sound Tracks were even good. The story a bit too draggy but still was good enough to hold the audiences on to their seats.all in all it was a good mixture of comedy and romance with a bit of drama too.thumbs up to the production of the movie and its cast.Hope you guys continue to do the awesome job and help bollywood revive its prestige unlike what the other movies are doing

Daawat-e-Ishq - Simple clean storyline that entertains while connecting to your heart

Whenever we see a romcom, we expect something new but come out saying that it was the very mainstream one. But not with this one. It's an epic Romcom that also delivers a beautiful message which only few people will be able to receive. Its amazing to watch how two people get bonded over food. The script is phenomenal, dialogues are superb, directions are fab! Truly hats off! I mean, if you're looking forward for an amazing weekend, you should definitely book the tickets. Be it with your, lovers, friends, family whoever. You will thoroughly enjoy the 2.5 hours of watching the movie. I recommend to watch it in a good theater. Speaking of the cast, Parineeti Chopra, undoubtedly has done a FANTASTIC job, all over again in this one. Her very typical and desi Hyderabadi accent will WOW you! ARK was also good. Please go and watch the film. Its good to watch such talented actors on the big screen.

Finding Fanny : Refreshingly Good, Simple, and Feel Good Comedy

Finding Fanny is unintentionally Hilarious . There are moments in the film (and many at that) when you can't stop yourself from  laughter. This is one of those delicious movies where its not so much about the story but more about the characters and the conversations. Where the script and the dialogue is, quite refreshingly, actually king. The scenes are so natural and innovative that you cannot but applaud the genius of the cast on screen as well as director Homi Adajania.

Mary Kom : Its not bad at all but a big opportunity lost and Kudos to all sports-women

This movie is  not bad at all but a big opportunity lost . Billed up to be one of the most heart wrenching tales of winning against all odds, the result was a very highly dramatized offering. If only the director had brains or had tried to take some inspiration from million dollar baby, this movie could have been legendary. Average direction, Average screenplay and what more. The fight sequence looked unreal and what you could see in a fight was audience and stupid reactions.

Plot :

A chronicle of the life of Indian boxer Mary Kom, who went through several hardships before  audaciously accomplishing her ultimate dream.

Cast :

 Priyanka Chopra :
Priyanka Chopra carries the movie and gives a good sincere performance. If only the role had been a bit more of substance, she could have taken it to greater heights.

Darshan Kumaar :
Darshan Kumar as Mary's husband K Onler Kom does a decent job for his debut.

Sunil Thapa :
Sunil Thapa who plays the role of Mary kom's trainer in the film for his performance is engaging.

Direction :

Director was very average. Its hard to find useless scenes in a two hour movie. 2 minutes wasted on passport lost scene do not add anything to the movie. If the director was able to display even half the real story of Mary Kom, a winner from not just a backward area, but a place where people reside in fear from both - the terrorists as well as the Indian army, I would've loved the movie

Verdict :  2.5/5

Conclusion :

Even if you have a penchant for sports (other than cricket), it will require great patience and stubbornness to follow this film, which was probably made with lots of drama and hope, but no imagination or creativity. Move along, there's not much to see here.

Family movie. Watchable once. Kudos to all sports-women.

P.S - You should stand up at the end of the movie if you are an 'Indian'

Mardaani: A Celebration of Woman Power And A rare realistic movie in Indian commercial cinema

Mardaani is a movie that despite an unimaginative plot and predictable narrative engrosses you in its fabric. Rani Mukerji is pitch perfect in the role of a super-cop that is rightly hued, far from the floss and swagger of Chulbul Pandey and Singham. She is real, gritty and every bit brilliant. Though the film's climax loses itself in melodrama, this is a film that has its heart in the right place and tells a pertinent story at a time when it must be heard.

Plot :

A cop's search for a missing teenage girl leads her to the depraved world of child trafficking. What follows is a cat-and-mouse game between the fearless cop and a ruthless mafia kingpin.he story gets serious when Rani tangles herself into the case of a missing girl "Pyarri" who is known to her. Then she traces and reaches Walt the kingpin of the child sex trafficking and challenges him that she will save the girls within thirty days. The rest of the story travels with some raw reality about human trafficking and drug deals from Mumbai to Delhi to expose some hard truth about India.

Cast:

Rani as a brave lady officer who is bold and mannish. The dialogue was witty to portray a daring officer when she deals with a goon who messes with her. The way she asks them "anyone else wants to learn law" was fantastic.

Karan Rastogi alias Walt (Tahir Raj Bhasin) also manages to tingle the nerves with his villainous performance. he is so good that you start hating him, truly a brilliant debut. Tahir's portrayal of Karan is a perfect complement to Rani's portrayal of Shivani.

Pyari(Priyanka Sharma), the abducted street girl, also makes her presence felt with her obtrusive performance.

Mona Ambegoankar gives a superb performance, though her role is small but she shines even in a brief role, sad to see that a brilliant actress like her is underutilized

Direction :

Gopi's screenplay captures the modus operandi of how human trafficking is done in a thriller format which is engaging and keeps you at the edge of the seat; not much time is spent on the emotional quotient. It is the climax which looks a bit too convenient. The characters are realistic and so are the dialogues. But I thought the Thriller quotient could have been much better as the surprise element is missing in most part of the movie.
Its kind of a complete package with good acting, direction and editing. The music is good too . There are no boring emotional scenes.

Verdict : 3.5/5

Conclusion:

Mardaani is a brilliant movie, and especially so because it comes in a time so crowded by the larger-than-life police cop, who is way beyond falling into physics of regular procedurals. The casting is picture perfect, and the dialogue, not crispy, but suited well. I appreciate the fact that they didn't push in any songs (except for one song in the end in the background, but that is acceptable), and the movie respects intellect and reality (lending it an 'adult' rating). The whole negative cast of the film is so well cast that I couldn't take my eyes off. Its a recommended movie and I am happy that people have sensibilities in them to make meaningful cinema.

Review: Singham Returns is a high-voltage action drama darker and better than the first one.

Singham back in 2011 packed a punch, with the Combo of Rohit Shetty & Ajay Devgan proving successful. And with 'Singham Returns', the deathly Combo strikes back & how! This Sequel is power-packed, explosive entertainment!

The Most Unique And Delightful Film Marvel Has Created To Date And They Call Themselves The Guardians of the Galaxy.

Guardians Of The Galaxy is the summer blockbuster I have been waiting for. The movie opens and it automatically just sucks you in with the awesome credits sequence.

They should really call themselves the best film of 2014, because that is what it is! Anyway as you can probably tell, this is my review for the new Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy. They're like the B-Rate Avengers and on a different planet. Xandar to be exact. Anywho's, the plot.

The visuals in this movie are insane, the colour palette for the film is just a treat to the eye, so vibrant and...well... so fun. The one word to describe the film is FUN. The film steers away from that bleak colour palette we are so used to seeing in 'serious' summer blockbusters and offers a nice fresh looking film with so many popping colours. The visual effects in the film are also top notch, with spectacular work done on Rocket and Groot, they feel like they are always there, you forget about the CG and focus on the characters

Review: Kick is Salman's best film in a decade

Plot
On a train journey in Warsaw, psychiatrist Shaina meets Himanshu, who is a police officer from India to discuss their prospective marriage. Both are reluctant to enter into an arranged union but become friends and strike a deep conversation where Shaina reveals her previous relationship with the eccentric Devi, a man who lived only for his 'Kick' aka an adrenaline rush . Despite his idiosyncrasies they embark on a whirlwind romance, until one day he breaks up with her for a new 'Kick' and walks away never to return. Himanshu in turn regales her with his glorious escapades as an officer but mentions that he has finally met his match, an intelligent thief. What they are both unaware of is that their stories have one thing in common, Devi. He returns to their lives under the pretext of having lost his memory. Behind it all, is a deeper mystery and an uncompromising mission for which Devi is ready to lose his life.

Movie Review: Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania – aka DDLJ

Well, first of all it's not just DDLJ, but every single romantic movie concept which gets repeated again and again. The plot is again the same boy-girl-problems in marriage type thing. And, it certainly is not a first day or even first week watch in a mall. But, the thing which kept me watching this movie is the efforts of HUMPTY and PATAKA (Alia's neck Tattoo). Though, the half of 2nd part is too lengthy to handle.

Ek Villian : Excellent plot, flawless direction, Heart wrenching story.

After "Aashique 2 " Mohit Suri is counted amongst the top directors of Bollywood today and "Ek Villain" is his first movie outside Vishesh Films. Hence a lot of expectations were built before the release by Balaji's Marketing strategy and with good music to back it, this could have been a cake walk for Mohit .
