Review: Singham Returns is a high-voltage action drama darker and better than the first one.

Singham back in 2011 packed a punch, with the Combo of Rohit Shetty & Ajay Devgan proving successful. And with 'Singham Returns', the deathly Combo strikes back & how! This Sequel is power-packed, explosive entertainment!

Plot :

Owing to the wrongdoings affiliated with evils similar to black money, an honest but ferocious police officer returns as the Deputy Commissioner of Police with the prospect of wiping out injustice. Bajirao Singham (ajay) gets transferred to Mumbai and he discovers that one of his team members (ganesh) is found dead with large bags of money. Bajirao decides to unearth the truth behind it and in this process, he collides with a powerful Swami ji (amole gupte) who has high profile connections with politicians. Whether Bajirao is able to overcome this challenge and clean the system or not forms the rest.

Cast :

Ajay Devgan's character Bajirao Singham is now in people's heart and you can understand it by hearing the whistles every time he comes on the screen. As always Ajay is in top form.

Kareena has been utilized well here without getting overboard.

Daya A bonus treat here for all the CID TV serial fans is Inspector Daya who is addressed without any doubt with the same name that he is been known since years. Yes yes there is a door opening sequence for which he is known for.

Amole Gupte is marvelous as the despicable villain. He's loathsome all through

Anupam Kher is effortless in a small, but significant role.

Direction :

The director has come up with an action packed story, but the plot was wafer thin and while the presentation was okay, the narrative was quite absorbing in parts, but boring in other parts. The dialogues were filled with good punch. The script was below average but the screenplay made it a little better. The background score was filled with good energy but songs could have been avoided. Cinematography was good but could have better. Editing was needed in some boring clichéd portions. Costumes were well designed to suit the backdrop while the art department was mediocre.

Verdict - 2.5/5

ConclusionOverall , Singham Returns is a high-voltage action which is a definite improvement over it predecessor. It does have few glitches but Ajay Devgan compensates for that and you are entertained for 142 mins. Decent 2.5/5
