Mary Kom : Its not bad at all but a big opportunity lost and Kudos to all sports-women

This movie is  not bad at all but a big opportunity lost . Billed up to be one of the most heart wrenching tales of winning against all odds, the result was a very highly dramatized offering. If only the director had brains or had tried to take some inspiration from million dollar baby, this movie could have been legendary. Average direction, Average screenplay and what more. The fight sequence looked unreal and what you could see in a fight was audience and stupid reactions.

Plot :

A chronicle of the life of Indian boxer Mary Kom, who went through several hardships before  audaciously accomplishing her ultimate dream.

Cast :

 Priyanka Chopra :
Priyanka Chopra carries the movie and gives a good sincere performance. If only the role had been a bit more of substance, she could have taken it to greater heights.

Darshan Kumaar :
Darshan Kumar as Mary's husband K Onler Kom does a decent job for his debut.

Sunil Thapa :
Sunil Thapa who plays the role of Mary kom's trainer in the film for his performance is engaging.

Direction :

Director was very average. Its hard to find useless scenes in a two hour movie. 2 minutes wasted on passport lost scene do not add anything to the movie. If the director was able to display even half the real story of Mary Kom, a winner from not just a backward area, but a place where people reside in fear from both - the terrorists as well as the Indian army, I would've loved the movie

Verdict :  2.5/5

Conclusion :

Even if you have a penchant for sports (other than cricket), it will require great patience and stubbornness to follow this film, which was probably made with lots of drama and hope, but no imagination or creativity. Move along, there's not much to see here.

Family movie. Watchable once. Kudos to all sports-women.

P.S - You should stand up at the end of the movie if you are an 'Indian'
